Otello at AO

Otello is a respected Moorish general in the Venetian army who has just returned victorious from battle. He is deeply in love with his wife, Desdemona. However, Otello’s trusted officer Iago secretly hates him and sets out to destroy him. Consumed by envy, Iago carefully manipulates Otello, planting false evidence to make him believe that Desdemona has been unfaithful with another officer, Cassio.

Iago’s lies slowly poison Otello’s mind. Once filled with love and honor, Otello becomes tormented by doubt and rage. Despite Desdemona’s innocence and devotion, Otello’s jealousy grows uncontrollably.

Tragically, Otello confronts Desdemona and, believing her to be unfaithful, murders her. Moments later, the truth is revealed—Desdemona was innocent, and Iago’s treachery is exposed. Overcome with guilt and grief, Otello takes his own life beside his beloved wife.
